The Board of Cupar Development Trust is very conscious that the impact of COVID-19 has been severe across the Cupar & District community, in its towns, villages and more remote countryside.

Working with partner organisations, in particular Cupar Arts and Three Estates Cupar, and supported by among others the Community Council, Schools, and - importantly, CuparNow - CDT submitted an application to Inspiring Scotland for £40,000, for a series of projects to be delivered in the months leading up to June 2021. Sadly, the application was not successful, but even so the collaboration of local organisations has in itself been valuable, and there are other potential sources of funding.

On the financial side, Cupar's Food Bank was working almost to capacity even before the outbreak, and now sees additional large numbers of new client families - families who would never have thought that they would have to ask for this type of help.

On the social side, the impact of lockdown on deprived families and the elderly was severe too, and the risk of anti-social behaviour among younger citizens and loneliness among the elderly will have lasting effects.
